CARDIONCOLOGY.ORG ABSTRACT:
This cohort study investigated the benefits of non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants (NOACs) compared to low-molecular-weight heparins (LMWHs) as treatments for acute venous thromboembolism (VTE) in 1109 patients with cancer and newly diagnosed VTE.
Results indicated that both treatments were associated with similar risk for recurrent VTE or major bleeding; however, NOAC was associated with significantly lower rates of gastrointestinal bleeding.
