Preventing Hospital-Associated Venous Thromboembolism A Guide for Effective Quality Improvement
Greg Maynard
ABSTRACT
Venous thromboembolism associated with hospitalizations represents a common cause of aggravation and/or death.
This guide provides strategies tested in the field to improve the treatment of this pathology: the achievement of significant improvements in the prevention of VTE cannot be separated from the management of multiple and interconnected aspects.
The various guidelines for VTE are different and not always consistent; in addition, there are many factors that can increase the complexity of patient management with VTE, with the consequence of making the practical implementation of the evidence based guidelines difficult.
In these guidelines, this difficulty is taken into account, with a particular focus on aspects concerning the practicality of implementation.
