This event models a leading-edge interdisciplinary approach to the field of CardioOncology. The program of the conference will focus on the care of cancer patients and survivors with cardiovascular disease, or with multiple risk factors for cardiovascular disease, including the toxic effects of treatment such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy and cell transplantation.
Simultaneously, the program will address the latest research in the area, to better understand how cancer therapies affect the heart and vessels, trying to identify mechanisms and risk factors for cardiovascular disease and to elucidate the role of cardioprotective therapies to prevent cardiotoxicity.
As the main objective of care of these patients is to prolong survival and to improve quality of life, CardioOncology must be interpreted as an interaction between cardiologists and oncologists and other health professionals, in an interdisciplinary way to think, to promote cardiovascular health and also to ensure a safety cancer treatment.
