What could be the added value of using social media for a doctor?
Dr Juan Lopez Mattei explains his point of view on social media as social media director of JACC Cardio-Oncology and based on his #SOME strategy:
-
-
the choice between the different types of social media platforms depends on the scope of communication and the message to be conveyed
-
twitter is the channel primarily used by cardiologists and cardio-oncologists to INTERACT (e.g. to collaborate, share content and discuss ideas, exchange experiences…)
-
linkedin is best suited to share a CV and to highlight skills and activities, and less suited as a way to interact with the cardio-oncology community
-
facebook can be a good channel for patient advocacy, to engage patients and make them aware about cardio-oncology, but care must be taken to avoid giving medical advice because of possible legal implications.
