CARDIONCOLOGY.ORG ABSTRACT:
Anthracycline-based chemotherapies are associated with reduced heart mass in cancer patients. This article demonstrates that DOX exposure induces CDK2-dependent FOXO1 activation, resulting in cardiomyocyte apoptosis and atrophy.
The authors suggest that FOXO1 is a promising drug target for the management of DOX-induced cardiotoxicity and may be beneficial as cardioprotective therapeutic agents during cancer chemotherapy.
